My Favorite Husband

My Favorite Husband was a radio show and network television series in the late 1940s and early 1950s. The radio show co-starred Lucille Ball and eventually evolved into I Love Lucy.

With today's internet, you can listen to some of the original radio episodes. For instance, here's one called "Is There a Baby in the House?".

I just listened to some of it. Radio shows are weird. Disembodied voices. I think I see the charm of it, but I prefer our modern-day embodied voices.

Nature's Great Events

Nature's Great Events was a wildlife documentary broadcast on the BBC in February 2009. It had episodes with names like "The Great Melt" and "The Great Feast" and "The Great Salmon Run." It got rave reviews. One reviewer said you can cradle your jaw in your lap while watching it.

In the United States, the program was shown with the title "Nature's Most Amazing Events." This means one of two things:

1. The American English equivalent of the British "great" is "most amazing" (and vice versa).

or

2. Americans think that great things aren't such a big deal; only things that are the most amazing of that kind of thing are worth paying attention to.

Last night I had some great pizza and the most amazing fried chicken.

Ftn

Ftn was a short-lived television channel in the British Isles.

Ftn broadcast between January 15, 2003 and October 1, 2007. It showed mostly entertainment and reality programming. It seems that Ftn was just an overnight broadcast; it was on between 6 pm and 6 am. It was geared toward nightshift workers and insomniacs and nocturnal animals like hamsters.

I had a hamster once. In fact, I think he's been mentioned in Wikibloogia before. His name was Mario. He would run on his wheel all night in my room and try to escape his cage.

He's dead now.

Just like Ftn.

Because that's the way it is.

Dawn Airey

Dawn Airey is a British television executive. If you want to see her resume, read the Wikipedia article.

Three things of note:

• Colleagues have described her as "the most vulgar person" they have ever met.
• As a teen, she lived with her architect father.
• In 2006, the Independent named Dawn as one of the 100 most influential gay and lesbian people in the UK.

Dawn is one of my favorite times of day.

Rachel De Thame

Rachel De Thame is an English TV personality and gardener. English people probably know who she is. I have never heard of her.

I have heard of gardening though. I've never had my own garden. I admire people who have their own gardens, big or small, from which they get fresh herbs and vegetables to cook with.

Though, you have to be careful what you eat from your garden. Some things can make your belly ache, or cause vomiting, or make you have to put clothes on and leave your garden forever.

Babylon 5: The Gathering

Babylon 5: The Gathering was the pilot episode for the Babylon 5 television series.

It aired on February 22, 1993. This was my dad's birthday. I don't remember how we celebrated that night, but I do know that it wasn't by watching Babylon 5: The Gathering. I imagine we went out to dinner. Maybe to a movie. Maybe we went to Chuck E. Cheese.

It was also George Washington's birthday. George Washington turned 261 that day. It's amazing he lived that long. When your face is printed on the dollar bill, you never die. Just like Wilford Brimley in Cocoon. Wilford Brimley reminds me of George Washington. Do you think consumers would spend more or less money if Wilford Brimley were on the dollar bill?

Romania in the Eurovision Song Contest 2008

Romania in the Eurovision Song Contest 2008 was a disappointment.

Eurovision is sort of like American Idol, but it's full of European people. It started in 1956. All the different countries compete against each other to see whose country has the best singer(s). Romania's entry in 2008 was Nico and Vlad Miriţă. They lost.

But that's okay. Everyone lost. Except for Russia.

Brum (TV series)

Brum (TV series) was a children's TV program in England in the early 1990s. It was about a car. The car was named Brum. Brum didn't talk, because he was a car. Instead, Brum would get his point across by opening his doors and swiveling his headlights among other things.

I just watched an episode of Brum on YouTube.

I declare Brum awesome.

Alexandra Bastedo

Alexandra Bastedo is a British actress best-known for her role as a super-powered secret agent in a TV series called The Champions. According to Wikipedia, "Bastedo was regarded as one of the most beautiful actresses of the 1960s."

Alexandra loves animals. She even went so far as to write a book called Beware Dobermanns, Donkeys and Ducks. She cares for many, many animals in her home.

In my life I have cared for four animals: one beta fish, two goldfish, and a Siberian dwarf hamster named Mario. I named him Mario because I'd recently gotten Nintendo. At night, Mario would spend hours banging at the metal cover of the little sanctuary at the top of his cage. I loved Mario, but I could never shake the feeling that he was miserable.

Freudian Sleep

Freudian Sleep is an episode of the television show Frasier. It was the 14th episode of the 11th season.

The title "Freudian Sleep" is a play on words. A "Freudian slip" is an error in speech caused by the unconscious mind, like if I said, "When it comes to TV show psychiatrists, Frasier is the breast."


I wonder what Freud would say about this.

List of Mork & Mindy episodes

List of Mork & Mindy episodes is a list of Mork & Mindy episodes. Mork & Mindy ran on ABC from September 14, 1978 to May 27, 1982. A total of 95 episodes. My birthdate is August 4, 1978, which means Mork & Mindy and I were born just six weeks apart.

Mork & Mindy sparked the careers of Robin Williams and the woman who played Mindy. The list of episodes includes such classics as "Mork and the Immigrant," "I Heard it Through the Morkvine" and "It's a Wonderful Mork." I don't remember any particular episode of Mork & Mindy, but I always thought Mindy had a pleasant way about her.

Joel Daly

Joel Daly was a TV news anchor for WLS-TV from 1967 to 2005. He is a household name in Chicago, where he delivered news.

According to Wikipedia, in the late 1960s and early 1970s, Joel and co-anchor Fahey Flynn pioneered a new kind of news delivery, when they incorporated a friendly informal style rather than the traditional monotone.

Over the course of his career, Joel won five Emmy awards, and in 2001 he was inducted into the Chicago Journalism Hall of Fame. He also enjoys yodeling.

Under Suspicion (CSI episode)

Under Suspicion (CSI episode). I don't watch CSI. This episode first aired on October 24, 2005. At that time I was living in Prague. I wonder what I was doing as this episode aired. I had been there almost a year. It was the middle of the night there. I was probably sleeping.

According to Wikipedia, this Season 4 episode involves a man named Horatio acting cagey, a woman named Rachel bleeding to death, and a killer named Warren who likes to lock children in closets while torturing their parents to death. Meanwhile, Judge Joseph Ratner has a grudge, and Natalia Boa Vista finds some blood matches. And no one knows where Yelina is.
